This assignment was really interesting to me as it have me a new outlook on the exposure triangle. Last summer a photographer friend of mine gave me shit for not knowing the exposure triangle and how to use it. I then devoted quite a bit of my time understanding how it worked and the principles behind it. Once we did this assignment I had developed a huge new understanding of the exposure triangle and its effects to the point where I barely even need to think about it anymore. It's so useful to actually do this test showing how you can achieve plus and minus 5 exposures by tweaking things and how there are different ways to achieve this dependant on your needs. As a sports photographer outside of school knowing this by heart is unbelievably useful as I am so often using 4000/s shutter speed and often the lighting in places I am shooting is terrible and need think on the fly. Even more so when shooting video I have a whole new appreciation for this especially as I shoot in SLOG2 a lot and need to be between 1-2 bracket's over exposed to be able to fully stretch the highlights and shadows in post. When shooting video you are usually locked to 800iso or 400iso dependant on what your cameras based iso is and I always felt so limited by this but now I have no fear when shooting video as I understand how easy you can adjust aperture appropriately to achieve what you need if your shooting in 1/50 or 1/125 for 25fps or 60fps.

The depth of field assignment is always once of my favourite parts of photography. I first experienced the beauty of a low aperture taking pictures of flowers when I was 12 with my Mother's Canon t1i. I don't exactly remember what the aperture would go to but I was absolutely blown away by the fact that you do this and mimic the focusing of the human eye with a camera. For my project the difference in all the images is subtle and I wish I would have done a closer portrait rather then focusing on the full body to achieve a deeper level of background compression.
